Mercy For Every Moment
Devotional
It would be easy to read the story of Jonah and think of God’s mercy as something reserved for dramatic moments. A prophet in the sea. A fish sent by God. A storm that suddenly stops. But the mercy of God is not only for the extraordinary. It is for the ordinary, the daily, the mundane.
Every morning you open Scripture, the Holy Spirit is presenting you with the same grace that met Jonah in the water and the sailors in the storm. That mercy is not waiting for you to reach a crisis point before it becomes available. It is already here, already extended, already sufficient for whatever this day holds.
And here is the remarkable thing. God’s purposes will not be thwarted. He accomplishes His will through the obedience of His children, and even through their disobedience. But there is a difference. When we walk in obedience, we get to share in the blessing. We become part of what He is doing rather than watching it happen around us.
You are not defined by your worst moments of running or rowing in the wrong direction. In Christ, you are approved, not because of your performance, but because of His. That approval is not something you earn. It is something you receive. So today, in the small decisions and the quiet moments, will you trust Him? Will you obey Him in this and in all matters?

Prayer
Father, thank You that Your mercy is not just for the big moments but for every moment of every day. Help us to walk in obedience today, trusting that Your approval through Christ is already ours and that Your purposes are always good. Amen.
